Crikey!

Monday, September 25th, 2006

The telecast of the memorial service for Steve Irwin last night left me weeping buckets. Well, since I heard the news, I end up with tears welling in my eyes everytime I see his past clips on the Discovery channel. Hehehe. Talo pa si Princess Diana. I wasn’t really a huge fan of the Crocodile Hunter but I’ve always enjoyed watching his adventures in the Outback and elsewhere. I didn’t find him annoying; in fact, his enthusiasm and passion for conservation was addicting. In a world engulfed by materialism and greed, it was refreshing to see someone taking time out to learn about the misunderstood and feared creatures of the planet. It’s very sad that someone with purely good intentions had to pass away this early, and from a very strange accident at that! What a waste. If only more people could be that passionate about what they do and have the same zest for life… Well, at least people have come to know about his amazing accomplishments and hopefully it’ll drive people to think twice about their own lives, and how much of it has been dedicated to doing good for fellow human beings and other creatures.

Where’s the stork?

Wednesday, September 20th, 2006

Aleina’s the second baby I carried this week. Yaya Cecil said she looked like me! Was asking Brennan if I could just bring home his sister for the day. I’m normally hesitant to carry a baby, but I found Maya too cute to resist last Tuesday. Her head smelled really good and she was laughing at my silly faces and baby talk. Since then I’ve been daydreaming about my own baby. What the heck?!
Didn’t help that we visited Miguel Ejercito’s home this morning. One of the best looking houses I’ve seen, with its quaint Mediterranean feel. It wasn’t too big, but everything inside it made it look warm and inviting. How can it not be, with a pretty interior designer for a mom? And the dad is a surgeon at Asian Hospital, who drives an MX-5.
Really lucky children, I should say. I have to admit I got so envious upon seeing the kids’ playroom! A whole wall had shelves full of dolls and stuffed toys and Miguel’s yaya even brought down a big box of cars and trains for the other kids. When he showed us his room, his bed and his sisters’ were still full of stuffed toys, and there were some more toys neatly placed on the side. Sigh. If only I had that much toys when I was still a kid.
I was looking at their family vacation pictures, and I couldn’t help but wish that I could provide the same comfortable life to my future kids. It doesn’t matter now what gender and how many they are, as long as their appendages are complete and they’re healthy! Sigh. Crazy as it may sound, I can’t wait to have a baby! Kahit baby lang ok na ko hehehe :P Maybe it’s a sign I’m ready for it.

Musings at midnight

Another dull Saturday night spent at home. My brother has a date, my parents are at church, and I’ve got the house to myself. As much as there are a lot of movies I have yet to see, the DVD player doesn’t really appeal to me now. I knew there was a rerun of Prison Break tonight, but I didn’t feel like getting the remote from my comfy position in front of my PC.
The second term has just started and hearing our teachers babbling away the requirements, I begin to feel my chest tighten. It’s the shortest term of the schoolyear and yet my 6 units are packing in a mean punch. Then I understood why I’ll just be tutoring Patxi on long test and exam days - to give way to my own responsibilities, and of course to make time for my boxing sessions.
…Which I have to say is the best thing I’ve done in a very long time. I’m really enjoying it, but not to the point that I’ll join some tournament. And what, risk losing my teeth? No thanks. And my trainer all the while thought that my brother was way older than me. He thought I was between 19-21! Wow some compliment. Twas nice to hear after realizing it’s just 6 months before my 27th birthday. Huhuhu.
Looking at the bright side, it’s not so bad… before I hit 30, I would’ve earned my master’s degree, I’d be a licensed teacher (assuming I pass this year’s LET, whose results will come out in a month), and I might just be working in Australia or somewhere. *crossing fingers*

Javier was wearing his Superman costume yesterday… so cute! I really love that kid, he’s smells so good and he’s very courteous. The only toddler I know who wipes his mouth with a tissue when he eats and who says "No, thank you" when offered something he doesn’t like. It may have taken him more than 2 months to warm up in class, but now I’m really glad to hear him speak his mind now.

Our Cabbage Patch doll Joaquin is still attached to the train set, but at least he can say "Fix pwease" when he needs to connect the cars together. He’s still very much a baby whose words have yet to be deciphered but his smile is still the one thing that disarms the Red Room teachers when we find the need to instill some discipline.
1161662_imgOur resident princess, Renee… whose mom told us that she calls her dad Prince Philip and she asks him to kiss her so she can wake up. Also called DQ or Drama Queen, she would sob with her hands on her face when we tell her to pack away her food.

The sole reason why the teachers have memorized almost all the songs in the High School Musical OST. He brings his own CD to school and he wants it played "lakas!" all the time. He’d get a small basketball and do his breakdancing moves on the mat when he hears "Get Cha Head in the Game". Sobrang laff trip. Even the teachers from the other rooms would sneak in and watch him dance. Walang paltos, everytime we play that song kahit 3 times in a row he’d still get up and dance, and forget about the toys. Magrereklamo lang yan na pagod na sya pag uwian na.

Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol

(First time I saw this video in my profile, I cried!)

We’ll do it all

Everything

On our own

We don’t need

Anything

Or anyone

If I lay here

If I just lay here

Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

I don’t quite know

How to say
How I feel

Those three words

Are said too much

They’re not enough

If I lay here

If I just lay here

Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we’re told

Before we get too old

Show me a garden that’s bursting into life

Let’s waste time

Chasing cars

Around our heads

I need your grace

To remind me

To find my own

If I lay here

If I just lay here

Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we’re told

Before we get too old

Show me a garden that’s bursting into life

All that I am

All that I ever was

Is here in your perfect eyes, they’re all I can see

I don’t know where

Confused about how as well

Just know that these things will never change for us at all

If I lay here

If I just lay here

Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Guess who’s three months on the way?

Santa Claus, who else? :P
It’s a little more than a hundred days til Christmas and I dunno how I’ll feel if I start seeing colored lights on the streets and houses. I could be as cynical as the rest of humanity and think about how my wallet will be sucked out dry in the next few months, or allow myself to become excited with… the gifts I’m gonna get HAHAHA. As if there’s gonna be a lot :P Again, it all boils down to one’s choice to see the glass as half empty or half full.
It had been my third boxing session this afternoon and I’m thrilled I’m getting the hang of the speedball! A few more sessions and I’d be an expert hahaha. I think it’s one sport that I can stick to for a long time - it’s vigorous and you don’t need grace to do it! I’m hoping to drop around 30lbs. by Christmas. Mangangarap na rin lang, sagarin ko na! :D

Wasak!

The blog addict that I am, I still chose to go online even if I feel like throwing up from having only less than 4 hours of sleep and muscles throbbing like crazy from my first session of boxing. Yes, nagfifeeling Wonder Woman ako, even taking some freelance jobs while the second term has not yet started. But in a few weeks it will be my turn again to plan 2 weeks of curriculum and I hope I don’t succumb to another round of unnecessary stress from procrastination.

But lemme share how great my weekend was. It was the first time in 3 or 4 years that Cathi, Bianx, Keysi and I got together again for a road trip like this. I’m sure the 4 of us will be having the same pictures on our profiles hehehe thanks to Bianx for bringing her camera! Oh my God. Sobrang namiss ko tong mga loka-lokang babaeng to. Ang sarap tumawa! At ang sarap manlaglag! Hindi siguro paghihiganti ang gagawin ni Bianx kundi pasasalamat mwahahaha!
Talaga nga namang pinatunayan ni Cathi ang pagka Zoom Zoom ng kanyang baby sa pagkaripas all the way to 7-11 at the Rotonda to buy yosi :D Laff trip sa car which continued while making "lamon" at Leslie’s. Wala naman kaming pinopormahan, so who cares?! At wala namang nakakakilala sa min dun. Nothing tops Keysi’s kwentos. I can never do that in a million years. Well, siguro if I get drunk everyday hehehe :)
Transferred to Cafe Lupe and had others join us. Aside from Ritchie and his cousin, there was also Margarita, Rum Coke, BJs (flaming hot) and Red Horse to keep us company til the wee hours of Sept 10. I wonder if the band noticed us shouting from the back that we’d rather have house music instead hehehe.
WWYL? Cathi didn’t stop badgering Keysi until she gave in after a few rounds. And I also gave in… to 4 sticks… of chalk! Hahaha. What a waste. After staying clean for around a year. But then again, I needed to be a wild child once in a while to keep me sane. Made fun of the lead singer and we were doing our own thing after their 3rd set. So kelan tayo sa Saguijo, Bianx? Keysi had been true to her word as always hehehe :P
Decided to call it a night at 2am, and once again, Zoom Zoom sped at 120 kph (on those moments na gising pa ko hehehe) kaya at 3am I was home, and ready to barf. Sorry Cathi that you had to hold it in because Max was making a lot of noise when he didn’t recognize me.  I didn’t quite make it to the toilet though, so I had to clean up the remnants of sizzling kangkong, crispy pata, baked mussels and bulalo in the bathroom while trying to keep my eyes open. "Wasak!" As Keysi would call it, but it was probably the best weekend I’ve had in a very long time… thanks to these crazy girls who will be forever bound to me because of the inks on our backs. Ano daw? A panoramic shot with us lying down on our stomachs dahil hindi daw kakasya (except for Bianx of course who was a very happy pig last night :P) hahahaha. White sand beach, here we come!
And then I wake up at 7am this morning. Can barely move…

Gore Fest **spoiler alert**

Downloaded the season 2 finale of House MD ("No Reason") the other day and was watching it on the bus on the way to LaSalle this afternoon. Even as I paid my tuition and walked all the way to Andrew Hall to get my grades I was watching it on my ZVM. I walked back to South Gate with my earphone on, oblivious to the people around me. I had to gasp and cringe when the gory scenes were on and I had to settle on one of the benches to finish the episode before I went home.
How did it gross me out? Let me count the ways… a) a really swollen tongue that was choking his patient; b) blood tainting the left eyeball of that patient until it popped out from all the pressure, c) Robert Chase being showered with blood from the same patient’s balls as the guy was taking a leak; and d) House opening up that same patient like a maniac, and spilling out his guts in the process. Wow. I feel like eating spaghetti now. That was why I had to stop occasionally to react.
And this has probably added to House MD’s charm all the more. Can’t wait for Season 3!

Wentworth1
Wentworth3

Wentworth2_1The only reason why I uploaded the Mariah video was because of Went, though I have to say Mariah didn’t look bad herself. I didn’t know Went was also in the "It’s Like That" video. That’s the kind I really go for: tall, fair, shaven head, broad-shouldered, has an intense stare, mysterious, maporma, speaks well, mukhang smart, mukhang babaero hahaha. Kaya naloloko ako lagi eh :D He was still gorgeous even with glasses and longer wavy hair in Underworld.
I saw Scofield and Tancredi’s kissing scene on YouTube… aaaaack! I almost fell off my seat.
[Michael kisses Dr. Tancredi]
Dr. Tancredi:
What do you want from me, Michael?
Michael: Sara, I need you to do something for me.
Dr. Tancredi: What?
Michael: Wait for me… it won’t always be like this. In this room, in this place.
Dr. Tancredi: Until then, I can’t… we can’t… damn it… I can’t… and I gotta go.

If she can’t wait for you, I will! I’ll wait for you forever, Went!

I like Mondays

Tuesday, September 5th, 2006

Mondays may be the most nakakatamad of all days for most, but for a couch potato like me, it’s the most happening day of the week! There’s Queer Eye for the Straight Guy with Carson trying on 3-inch heels and throwing a tantrum after the guy said he didn’t feel sexy with the new wardrobe. There’s a back-to-back episode of Prison Break which I think is getting close to the season finale (but I could be wrong… basta everytime Wentworth’s on, comprehension shuts down hahaha). And there’s House MD and CSI New York afterwards. Kaya I’m always late every Tuesday mornings hehehe.
Finally got my grades. Not bad at all! Now I love Chichi all the more hahaha. Now I’m just waiting for the LET results. I hope there’ll be a reason for me to get rid of all the papers gathering dust in my room.

Look at my baby! Daddy Wentworth is still out there shooting the rest of Season 2 hahaha. He was trying to make funny faces here because I brought my camera. I should take a picture of his baby picture.. he’s got to be the most adorable baby you’ll ever see…
Keiliane is so much into High School Musical nowadays and he obviously appreciated me bringing a CD of the soundtrack and playing it in school because he turned from a surly cross-armed toddler to a very ma-PR one who hugs me and kisses me on the lips. Talk about paninipsip! He’d sing with me "Soaring… flying… there’s not a star in heaven that we can’t reach… if we try it… now we’re breaking free…" and he’ll close his eyes while he spins around the mat. Patawa talaga. And when I ask him if he wants to hear "We’re All in This Together" he’d say "Maybe later…"
